Parking Lot is our term for the poster where you "park" your questions so they don't have to wander around in your brain. We'll post the questions and then answer them either in the discussion board or through a link.
8/30/13 Question: I liked the small group format we used to discuss the quotes, but how can I duplicate it in my classroom when the only facilitator is the teacher? See Colleen's answer on her blog. She discusses how to teach students to become discussion facilitators in small group settings.
9/18/13 Question: I had 140 students everyday and frequently felt overwhelmed by a paperwork load, so I stand in awe of you who have 170 students and/or numerous preps daily. Do you feel like you need to read and comment on or grade every piece of writing? If so, do you decrease the number of writing assignments because of it? Or have you come up with some workable solutions? For instance, do students submit one best piece for the week or some other limited time? Join the discussion on the chat board on this page.
9/21/13 Question: What is a protocol I can use for students to respond to each other's writing in small writing groups?
Response: I've developed my own writing and sharing protocol. I based the times on the students that I have and if something doesn't work once, I adjust times and directions. (Jana, Laquey)
